Crohn's Disease

Found the Cure Foundation medicine is based on the concept that the individual seeking medical care is seeking more than a "fix" for a "diseased" organ. Found the Cure medicine is a comprehensive treatment program that seeks to treat the entire individual. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and inflammatory bowel disease affects not only the body, but also the mind and spirit. Additionally, IBD affects other organs as autoimmune diseases.

Our comprehensive serum assays seek out non-standard hormonal biomarkers, and other signs and symptoms to treat the WHOLE INDIVIDUAL.

Hormone loss and imbalance is easily correctable for both men and women. Through state of the art diagnostic hormone testing, we can determine your hormone levels and your unique bio-identical hormone needs. We propose that patients first educate themselves and then actively discuss what options are available in their individual medical care with their health professionals. No treatment is correct for everyone. However, there are numerous treatment options available and we believe in treatment that is not only cost effective, but also treats the body's entire well-being.

What is Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)?

Inflammatory Bowel Disease is a broad term that describes conditions characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and microcytic colitis are under the umbrella of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). Approximately 1.6 million Americans currently have IBD. There are about 70,000 new cases of Inflammatory Bowel Disease diagnosed in the United States each year, increasing at fifty percent or more per year. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are the most common disorders of IBD.

Crohn's disease

Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn's disease causes the intestines to become swollen, develop strictures and narrowing. Crohn's affects nearly 700,000 in the United States. Characteristics of Crohn's disease:

  • Inflammation may develop anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus
  • Typically occurs at the end of the small intestine and extending into colon
  • May appear in patches
  • May extend through the entire thickness of bowel wall causing narrowing obstruction
  • Approximately 67 percent of people in remission will have at least 1 relapse within 5 years

Ulcerative colitis causes long-lasting inflammation and ulcers in the digestive tract. Characteristics of ulcerative colitis:

  • Limited to the large intestine (colon and rectum)
  • Appears in a continuous pattern
  • Inflammation occurs in the innermost lining of the intestine
  • About 30 percent of people in remission will experience a relapse within 1 year
  • 75% will have colon resection in lifetime

What are the causes of IBD?

These diseases appear to be linked to genetics, environmental toxins, and the Western diet. There is a component of these diseases where the immune system is not working properly. These diseases are considered to be autoimmune disorders. The gut microbiome plays an important role by helping control digestion and benefitting the immune system and overall health. An individual's gut microbiome is made up of trillions of bacteria, fungi, and other microbes. The true role of the microbiome gut bacteria is yet to be fully determined, but Lichten and others have theorized that changes in the individual's hormones have a profound effect on the gut microbioma.
