Cluck It: The Ceramic Chicken App
April 10, 2012
We try to understand “kids these days.” And for the most part, we do a pretty awesome job. But then something like Ceramic Chicken comes along and we just feel old and out of the loop (or should we say coop?). That is until we do our homework. Apparently the young folks love chickens in ironic situations, and we can certainly appreciate that.
We’ve been working with Cody and AlliSimpson for quite some time now. The Australian teenage brother and sister are wildly popular in the U.S. and around the globe. Cody is a rising star in the pop music world, and Alli is an up-and-coming model and actress. Ceramic Chicken, well, he’s kind of like their traveling mascot.
The real Ceramic Chicken was a gift from a fan early in Cody’s touring career. Since then, the Simpsons have taken Ceramic Chicken on the road with them, posing him in comical photos. The photos are posted to Ceramic Chicken’s very own Twitter handle,@CeramicChickn, which has over 16,000 followers. And fans can’t get enough, waiting to see what very un-chicken-like situation Ceramic Chicken will pop up in next.
So we thought, why not let the fans create their own Ceramic Chicken scenarios? That is when Cluck It was born (hatched, let’s go with hatched). Cluck It, concepted, designed and developed here at The Studios, allows users to insert Ceramic Chicken into any photo on their iPhone. Users can take a new photo while running the app or choose from a photo already on their phone. Ceramic Chicken can then be scaled and moved within the photo. Arguably the best feature: when a user snaps a photo, a very realistic chicken squawk sounds off, which continues to crack us up no matter how many times we hear it.
Once the perfect Cluck It scenario is achieved, users can upload and share their photos on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #CluckIt, which we might add was trending worldwide the day the app was released!
